So maybe if I wait long enough, loud ’90s Christmas jumper goalie kits – like this peach worn by former Blackburn and England backup keeper Tim Flowers in January 1994 – will come back around again. Perhaps the idea was to blind opponents, or make them gouge their own eyes out. Is he holding a flattened cigarette?

Oh, Dmitri. Remember this eyesore Russian goalkeeper Dmitri Kharine wore for Chelsea in 1994? I’m not sure what’s cooler, the 3D magic eye (“It’s a schooner!”) design, the Amiga kit sponsorship or Kharine’s curly mullet. Either way, this photo’s about as ’90s as it gets.
